Some updates to my site. I added a horizontal navigation menu on the top. Added additional <link> tags in <head> so that some browser can pick it up and display it in navigation bar for accessibility. Examples of them are 'Home', 'Help', 'Author', 'First', 'Previous', 'Next', 'Last'.
Also added an "About" page to my site. Read the about page.

Opera fans out there, FYI , version 9.0 beta 1 is out for testing. Well I know I'm a bit late on this news, but it's just a FYI anyway. Some of the changes raised my attention.
Although Opera has announced that they will inlcude BitTorrent protocol in the release of Opera 9.0, I still can't stop screaming after knowing they actually done it ! nice on ya ! For CSS, Opera 9.0 now passes Acid2 test, which its rival, IE and FireFox, still fail to pass the test =)
Opera changed the default UserAgent string to identify as Opera. Finally, Opera no longer has to "hide behind" and identify as IE. Opera is Opera ! For images support, Opera has increased SVG support to SVG 1.1 basic. They improved and added new error console for warnings and error messages. Developer will benefit most from it.
I'm happy to see Opera has included some nice features like internal source viewer, opera:config, widgets, change of feed notification icon, Web page thumbnails for tabbed browsing and etc. All of these exist in other browser but now Opera has it too ^^
As usual, Opera is the pioneer that implements the latest technology and web standards. Read more on the Opera 9.0 beta 1 changelog. Also, read the widgets tutorial if you're interested in writing useful widgets for Opera. Another place to learn more about Opera.

Home alone is boring and one thing has been bothering me, which is I need to stock things up. It's home alone 2 now, and guess what ? I just stocked up 36 cans of Coke. Well, it's not my fault but the buy 2 pack promotion is so damn attractive and cheap. I just can't resist it. Since Brisbane is under level 2 water restriction alert, it's so cheap that I could even use Coke to substitute water for car washing. Anyway, how to finish 36 cans of Coke in 1 or 2 weeks time will be one of my short term goal.
Rumour has it that it's not advisable to drink more than 2 can of Coke in one day. That applies to other drink like Pepsi.
Whatever, let's start counting... 36 x 375ml = 13500ml...

Site Issue , Site Updates - DaRen
The old site is "officially" closed. Everything is moved to this new server. Took me a month to make all these working which I didn't expect. Besides moving the site, I redesign the site logo, minor cosmetic changes and changed lots of codes that makes my script more versatile to adapt to the new environment. That includes altering tables in database.
However, the major update will be the opening of Public Upload section ! At first I'm planning to make it as a private upload section for myself to store some temporary files other things but since I got plenty of space on this server, might as well I open it to the public. So if you need a place to store files, you're welcome to use the service as long as you agree with the disclaimer.
The public upload service is powered by D's File Manager. It's a powerful but simple "module" to use. My web-based file manager and weblog file uploads rely on it. Let me know if you found any security holes for example like, manipulate a file that's outside the directory scope =) I would be very happy to know that.
Here's the public upload section, or you can access it through the left navigation panel on my site. Maximum upload size is unknow but it should be 10Mb per upload.

What do you live for ?

Time flies... the last blog was 5 days ago. Life? Wake up on 7am, eat, work and sleep on 11pm. In between you got fun, sometimes shit happens, like today, no big deal... the earth is still spinning and so do I, Im alive and kicking. Sometimes come to think about it, why am I here ? What is the purpose for me to exist in this world ? I've been thinking of this since I'm 10. This question popup in my mind again after going through a rough day, sitting down quietly while watching a baby eating. You got all sorts of answers to that, but basically, nobody got the absolute answer for it.
Some people they live for themselves, some live for other people, the rest just thought living is meaningless. Majority of people didn't aware that they are living for other people. To me, I don't consider those found living meaningless or commit suicide because of that, as "lost"... to me, that's just another type of living or perception. It's just like what is right and what is wrong... There's is no absolute way to define it... It's right if you think it is right...
Sometimes, I laugh at those people who participates seminar/group activities that hypnotise people "Life's precious" "You gonna set a goal for your life" bla bla bla etc etc... It's like, how the hell can you be sure that living is better than after you leave this world? Ironically, I agree they're helpful and I do participate that kinda activities too... Life is life, that is life...
I'm don't know why I wrote this "what do you live for" thing for... For me, at this moment, I want to live because it feels so good to lie on my feel-so-good-sofa with a blanket in this cold weather, half way going to sleep...
So what do you live for eh ?

Watched the lauch of Big Brother 2006 just now. It's already the 6th edition. Met all the housemates on TV. I'm guessing who will be the first one to be evicted. This year BB have 2 world first. The 1st world first is there will be a mother and daughter joining BB this year (see below). The 2nd world first is BB invites a ex-housemate(Jamie) who got evicted to rejoin BB this year. Quite disappointed though, the 2 world first doesn't sounds as good as what they say in the previews - "Can you handle the World First ?"
Anyway, a mother(Karen) and daughther(Krystal) are joining BB06 and they will play their role as strangers. They both did a boob job not long ago... will somebody suspect their relationship because they both just did a boob job around the same time? Can they hold the secret until next week ? If they failed, one of them will be evicted next week!
Big Brother is no longer a nice guy in this year. Jamie got fined like $10k because of not respecting the Big Brother..."When Big Brother talks, you listen..." hehe... The BB's host, Gorgeous Gretel, doesn't looks gorgeous on that outfit though... that's an ungly tie... what's she thinking eh ?
IMHO, Anna is the gal that's "most lookable" among the gals in BB06 this year... It's funny to watch one of the housemate, David, his expression when he meet Anna...looks like he never seen a pretty gal before haha... Among the housemates, Elise is from China, she is a uni student gal. She arrive in Australia in the age of 7.
15 housemates just know each other(well, Karen and Krystal pretends to be stranger) and some of them have already "match up". It won't be long to find out who's with who.

Stress from work?? There are many ways to release tension. I'll share one of my ways, somebody might find it useful. Below is what I tried and it's very effective:

This tv is looking good and sitting there peacefully... too bad it's standing in my way...The brand of the TV is blured to protect the innocent (me).
Uhh.. the screen is alot more solid than what I thought. Took me a few power hit to smash the CRT screen.
A hit-through the CRT screen. Does that looks like something you want to do in real life but only can be done in your dreams ? hehe...
I do understand that many of you are aware that this is an expensive way to release tension... and it might only appear in your wildest dreams but I can tell you this method is very useful if you do it ocassionally... 
ps: remember to sweep away those glass fragments on the floor...

Alex and Kelly is going off for a almost-3-weeks holidays on tonight. That means I'll be home alone for 3 weeks...  scary ~~~ Basically that also means "3 missing 1" becomes "1 missing 3" when it comes for games. That also means that I will have nightmare which last for next 3 weeks because I need to look after Alex's job scope in the company. That's what I'm scared of since 2 months ago - my job load will be doubled or even trippled !! That sounds gay but I gonna do what I gonna do... no choice !
Most of the time the meals are prepared by Kelly & Alex. So when they are away, I'll have to cook everything for myself. It's just like getting back to old days. Just asking myself am I starting to get used of this situation or am I spoilt by them =)
Sending them to airport tonight.

I'm still having trouble with my new hosting environment. They're using different configuration in some areas and taking me time to do Q&A between me and the support team.
For example, in my new hosting environment, PHP is run under the ownership of "Nobody". That means the folders/files created using PHP script has the group 'Nobody' and owner 'Nobody' in Linux filesystem. That doesn't hurt but it's a pain in the ass when it comes to file manipulation through FTP client. That's because when you login through FTP, you belongs to your username group. Thus making you having no rights to manipulate to those files that are create by PHP script. Sounds stupid eh ? (See here)
But that's not the end of the story. If you upload/create the files through FTP, you can't delete them through PHP script because of the owner/group permission issue! That's really stupid but then the answer/solution I got from the support team is
Quote:You have to first connect to the FTP server from the PHP code in the script . Then with the php script you can create the file/folder. So when you are connected to ftp server and then the file/folder is created then the file/folder has the ownership of the ftp user that you have used in the script. So you will be able to delete this file created from the FTP client.
*Fainted... ... ... ... ... ...*
I suggest them to use suexec or suPHP but I doubt they will ever care about that. Any Linux guru can help me ?

Event , Personal - DaRen
Went to Dream World yesterday. The new ride, The Claw, is uber cool ! It's the only ride that is able to stand along with Giant Drop. Other rides like the roller coaster or something that's similar like that just makes my heartbeat increased by 3 in 1 minute. Boo ~
Not everybody feels the same like me though. We're 5 in a team excluding a 1 year old child. Alex and Jimmy are out after playing Wipeout & The Claw. Kelly produced a high pitch of scream when she's riding Cyclone roller coaster from the moment the ride started to move until the end of the ride... hehe... that adds another one to the man-down-list. Vicky is very brave but when it comes to Giant Drop, she gives "need to take care her child" as an excuse. So basically the team spirit are dead and lead us to the end of theme park trip.
Yesterday night after the theme park trip, I went to celebrate Haili's birthday in NewWay karaoke. Tiredness with alcohol pushing behind, I'm smashed but luckily somebody "pull" me back to my house, making me feel "Wow, it's good to wake up on the sofa rather than in the toilet.." Anyway, Happy Birthday to You, HaiLi !!!
ps: It's disappointing to hear that you're kicking and awaking throughout last night though =) Maybe we should increase the size of the cup hehe
