Online file scanning - 11:55 pm
Anti-virus, anti-trojans, anti-malware, anti-badthings
Website Intro  -  poster

Virustotal is an online service for scanning virus/malicious/suspicious files using several antivirus engines. Oh ya, did I forget to mention it's free too ? I'm not sure if it can detect packers or not.

Another good free online file scanning service will be Online malware scan by Jordi Bosveld. Besides scanning, it supports simple packers detection. I used to use this but lately it seems the server load is always extremely busy, not sure if the server got bombard/flood or there are really so many people using it.

I suggest scanning both packed and unpacked suspicious file that you want to scan in order to get the best result.

Simple PHP Blog - 6:38 pm
Coding , PHP , Website Intro  -  poster

Just found a PHP blog project in SourceForge - Simple PHP Blog. It doesn't require a database, uses flat text files, and looked nice. Runs on PHP 4.

Looks simple and nice to me, but flat text file eh ?? I'm not really a big fan of it... imagine writing extra coding to process text file and performance degradation when you're dealing with large scale entries.

I haven't test the whole thing. But , it's not bad for short term blogging by just looking at their page though. Simple PHP Blog got the basic features like leave comment, trackback, permalink, search function, RSS feed and etc.

I'll check their admin control panel later on and study their code when I got enough time.

Visit their SourceForge project page, or their web page.

Mozilla Editor - 4:09 pm
Browser , Computing , Internet , Standards , Website Intro  -  poster

via woeisiong:

It seems that Mozilla is building it's own editor. I suppose that's a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web-based editor.
Quote:
The Mozilla editor provides HTML and plain text editing functionality in Gecko-based applications.

This is a good thing to FireFox and other gecko-based browser... BUT, what about IE and Opera ?? They aren't gecko-based. Does that means that they will not be able to use it ?? hmm ??

I've seen a few WYSIWYG but most of them are pretty buggy. They all consist of "complicated and sophisticated" things (codes, lol) in it, but they have the problems of cross-browser-compatibility.

Anyway, aren't those WYSIWYG editor and BBCode tags exists solely for one purpose ? To make lazy people's life easier =)

Visit the Mozilla Editor and the live demo (Note: I got a feeling the demo page is out-dated).

Google's personalized page - 9:21 pm
Computing , Internet , Website Intro  -  poster

Set up Google as your homepage and read your multiple favourite RSS on your personalized page! You can choose what you love to read and what you don't want. Examples are your local weather forecast, top news stories, specific RSS feed and etc.

Google has this freely-drag-and-arrange feature that allows you to arrange the layout. Sounds cool eh? But before you can use the service, you gotna have a google account, eg Gmail account.

Visit Google Personalized Page, login and start to personalize!

E-mail to yourself 20 years later - 12:26 am
Cool Stuff , Internet , Personal , Website Intro  -  poster

Do you have anything to say to yourself after 20 years later ?? Check this out :

Quote (Wired News):
It's a time capsule of your thoughts, sent to yourself -- a future self, that is. A couple of young web entrepreneurs create a website that lets people send e-mail to themselves, 20 years hence.

Source: Wired News

I've just "send out" an e-mail, dated December 2006, to myself. I'll be sending an email to my 20-years-later me after I received the email next year.
