Let me blog something before my weblog starts to rot... Let me see... hmm... Oh well, I've finished watching the Zegapain anime (ZEGAPAIN -ゼーガペイン-) few days ago. I think it's worth to intro to people that haven't watch yet.

Plot Summary

Kyo, an avid swimmer tries his best to keep the high school swimming club going, which is pretty hard when he's the only member. Facing the prospect of the club being closed by the student council, he tries to enlist beautiful Misaki to act in a promo video, shot by his good friend Ryoko, in a bid to start a recruitment drive. She agrees but only if he pilots a mecha under the wing of Celebrum, a resistance organisation fighting to destroy Deutera Areas formed on Earth by the aliens Gards-orm. He agrees but finds it all strangely familiar as if he's done it before....(more on ANN)

Actually, Zegapain doesn't really impress me when I first look on ANN. It kinda gave me an impression that it's for younger shonen type where the main character is the chosen one that drives mecha, goes wild and always say "I'll save the world!". Well, turns out I'm wrong (happens all the time).

What is reality? real world? apparition? dream? existence? tomorrow? future? hope? The parallel/multiple universe thing in Zegapain isn't a new thing nowadays, but it still makes me going after the next episode, again and again. The story and characters are interesting and pretty well developed. The ending is wrapped up pretty good as well. At times, the story is very emotional and sometimes it just makes me say "WTF". One example is when Kaminagi is vanished because her data is lost due to a failure during force-transfer, and after hours long later, Shizuno found the remains of Ryoko's data is still inside Zegapain's memory buffer, exists as ASCII text. I mean, ASCII eh?? Kaminagi's data exists in pure ASCII and not encoded data?? quantum server is still using ASCII standard?? if so, the capacity of memory buffer on zegapain must be extremely huge Also, the sudden Lu Sheng hugging and kissing Kyo in epi 24 makes me fell of my chair... haha... more ironic is Lu Sheng is voiced by Romi Paku (also seiyū for Tōshirō Hitsugaya, the captain of the 10th Division in Bleach)...

Anyway, although the anime is tagged with mecha genre, don't expect too much from it. To me, the mecha in Zegapain is really ugly (as well as their colourful combat suit), looks like those cheap toys that you get from McDonald... well, not really the case... but you get the idea. I wonder if Bandai has anything to do with this. I'm also not satisfied that the fighting movements between the mechas. The movements are too simple, dull and boring. If you think of the M9 AS is able to do tango dancing (though ends up badly) in FMP! The Second Raid (OVA) and compare to Zegapain that just moves in one direction... meh... They even re-use the fighting scene in different battles, several times!! omg...

If you're wondering, Zegapain is from Sunrise studio. Anime-nerdies say the studio finally stopped hiring monkeys and hired real people to do anime. Well, if you treat it as less mecha and more sci-fi, Zegapain is definitely worth your time to watch.


ps: also, I've heard heaps of anime-nerdies mentioning how sexy Ayako Kawasumi voice is (who voiced Misaki Shizuno character)

[搞笑+真实]日本动漫中的50样共同点

1。男主角十个有八个是刺蝟头或扫把头。
2。主角低龄化，15以下的救世主一抓一大把。
3。男主角很多都是矮冬瓜。 [不太赞同。。。]
4。男主角必定会有句经典口头禅。（喂喂，这个还要举例？小杰：我要去找我的爸爸，我的爸爸是一个猎人！叶：我一定要成为通灵王！龙马：你还有得学~~~~~！星矢：我们是女神的圣斗士！）
5。男配角中总有一个长发飘飘冷若冰山且帅得想毁容的家夥。 [一般都被怀疑性取向，然后不会跟男主角抢马子]
6。至少有一个或多个成熟性感女配角。
7。少年漫画中，朋友远比马子重要。
8。少年漫画中，女主角多数是陪衬的。
9。往往主人公前面都有一个高大的背影要追随，比如父亲、前辈、师傅等等。

11。男主角起码要有蟑螂般的顽强的生命力，不然怎?熬得到最後打BOSS？
12。如果是闯关式打boss，每到一关遇上敌人，都会有一个夥伴抢著留下，并总要很酷的说：这裏交给 我！你们快走！！！！！ [非常赞同!!]
13。出场花俏废话很多的家夥通常很肉脚。
14。被人打到，为了加强效果，一定要飞出去撞断柱子或在墙壁上砸出一个大坑後倒著栽下来。
15。若要强调对方的攻击无效，表现手法就是除了脸上的一条细小血痕外毫发无伤。
16。若是我方败，至少要抱著和对方同归於尽。
17。若是对方败，最後留下的话不外是两句话：1。啊啊啊啊啊！！！我，我居然会败给 你！2。能够和你一战，我死而无憾。

31。说到上山修炼，总让人联想到穿著兜档布在瀑布底下冲水或和黑熊搏斗。

41。主角一般附有“天才”之称号或潜能。
42。只要有大型世界级比赛，中国队多数会进入四强。（小日本还蛮看好中国的） [嗯，战争类的也是。只不过美国跟中国的部队肯定没办法了或者是被干掉后，属于小日本的部队才会在最后一刻出来救世界]
43。但只要有中国队，他们穿的都是唐装。
44。凡是怪盗，偷东西之前肯定要发通告。而且完事之後空逃几率比较大。
45。凡是侦探，肯定比在场的警? 謏N静数倍。
46。凡是高智商杀人犯，杀了人後绝对不会逃，硬要混在那堆人中等著别人来揭露自己的罪行。
47。侦探在开始推理之前，必定要说“真相只有一个”“犯人就在我们这群人当中”“我一定要把凶手找出来”之类增强气势的台词。

Just finish watching the movie FFVII - Advent Children 15 mins ago and already I've a couple of high resolution screenies/wallpapers lying inside my hdd..muahhaa..Watching the movie kinda "refresh" my memories about the game's story I played 6 or 7 years ago. Although the movie is a little bit "rush" and "short" (well, IMAO anyway) I still love it so much and thank god the Square Enix didn't ruin my good old memories I had for so many years. As far as I remember, all the main characters in the game appears inside the movie.

Ok, let me refresh your memory by listing the names in game :
Cloud Strife : The very dedicated hero in FF7 as well as the main character in the movie. He is all alone in the world, wondering if they done the right thing in attempting to save the planet. He now sports a new look wearing a black outfit instead of the purple from FFVII. He carries his trademark buster sword and kicking Sephiroth's ass like old times.

Sephiroth : The ultra-powerful genealogical son of Jenova (biological son of Hojo and Lucrecia), this guy has some major problems. His "mother" is a planet-devouring entity, his true father is a medical psychopath, and he's got enough firepower to down a few solar systems. If he'd never met his real mother, he might have been quite a nice guy.

Zack : Can't really remember him..hmm..He's a soldier killed by Shinra soldiers and Cloud took over his job. He appears as flashback in movie.

Aerith Gainsborough : The mysterious flower girl and happy-go-lucky daughter of a Cetra and a human seems almost too good to be true for Cloud...and it soon turns out that she is. Aeris's tragic history is cut all too short by Sephiroth, who makes sure she doesn't get in the way of his plan. Her magical powers are admired by all. Also known as Aeris.

Tifa Lockheart : Tifa and Aerith share main heroineship in FF7. Bartending in Seventh Heaven bar and also a member of AVALANCHE. She's the only one who holds the truth about Cloud's past. In the movie, her wardrobe has been updated with her appearing to wear something similar to Rinoa in FF VIII. She now looks after Marlene and other orphans while working at Seventh Heaven.

Barrett Wallace : The dark-skinned leader of AVALANCHE. He's equipped with powerful tommy gun (heh, machine gun) on his arm. He adopted Marlene as his daughter. In the movie, he leaves Marlene in Tifa's care to search for new energy to replace Mako.

Vincent Valentine : Sorta "ghost" guy in the game and in movie. He fell in love with Lucrecia while working with Dr. Gast and Hojo. However he kept his feelings to himself, seeing her feelings for Hojo instead of him. Later he's linked to Jenova incident. Vincent wears a red cape and is able to transform into monsters during battle. He uses a small pistol for normal attack.

Cid Highwind : A rough, crusty middle-aged aviator. He uses a spear in battle and he's never without a cigarette. I can still remember the funny almost ending scenes in the FF7 game's CG movie where he's with his cigarette and his flying ship.

Red XIII : Looks like a muscular tiger with red fur and a always lighting tail. Red XIII was what Hojo called him when Hojo grabbed him for biological research. Red is also the defender of Cosmo Canyon.

Yuffie Kisaragi : A young ninja-type girl who lives in Wutai. Clueless kind of kid but her pinwheels are pretty deadly in battle.

Marlene : Barrett's super-cute adopted kid (Dyne's daughter), she tends the Seventh Heaven bar when Tifa's out. She's very with it and likes being involved in all the gossip. Playing an important role in the movie with other kids.

Rufus : A vice-president of Shinra Inc. He became president by default when Sephiroth killed his father. He's the wheelchair guy inside the movie.

Reno : The head of the Turks after Tseng passed on. He enjoys a good drink and never does anything beyond what his job requires.

Rude : The baldheaded, silent member of the Turks, he just goes along with whatever Reno tells him. He enjoys a good gambling night. Cool shades, Rude.

In the movie Reno and Rude appear on screen pretty often, but in the game they're just some small characters who jumps out and cause so disturbance to cloud and his partner's plan. I can't remember them good.. (or maybe I'm just growing old..)
